The best food ever. Everything is made fresh, authentic Argentine Food with great flavor! The owner are super nice!

Great spinach and corn empanadas. Small counter in the back of a store- hidden gem. Friendly and recommended delicious empanadas.

Truly authentic Argentinian empanadas. The place is hidden inside a licor store, the place looks extra clean which I like. The lady that gave me my food was probably the owner and she reminded me that is I place my order directly with her, the food is a little cheaper. The empanada were so good, sorry, didn't take a picture because we ate them so fast.

Place has been crushing it for years. They're pretty stingy on the chimichurri sauce, so you'll have to ask for extra. But lterally, everything is good here.

Best empanadas. Great service. Convenient location. Off the 55 freeway. Located in the back of a liquor store.

Thanks to fellow Yelpers, I found this out of the way place that just happens to be fantastic. Don't be deterred by its back of a liquor store location. Heritage House Liquor which has been around as long as I remember. It's one of the old school Tustin places that make Tustin Tustin - not you, Tustin Ranch. I doubt you will find better empanadas anywhere, and they serve quite a variety of them. They serve also sandwiches and pizza, both of which I intend to try based on my experience with the empanadas. There are a few small tables if you want to eat there, but It's mostly take out. My empanadas traveled well on the 15 minute drive home. For my first time, I chose the beef empanadas served, of course, with house made chimichurri sauce. Three of them at $3.00 each were plenty to fill me up. The service is very friendly. Be sure to tip. It's a good place all the way around.

Review is 2-part: first is a more recent takeaway (and reheat at home) and the latter is a past dine-in experience. Last week I stopped by to pick up 15 empanadas (cold). $30/dozen is a good deal but I needed a few more for the size of our bible study group. Each flavor has a distinct look, so it helped enhance plating even if I cut each in half. I chose chicken, spinach & ricotta (among the most popular), mushroom (also popular) and Arab (think minced beef but with lemon juice). note: The Arab comes in a triangle and isn't enclosed like the others. A few small containers of chimichurri sauce are included. (Check the fridge if you want to buy a jar of it or spicy chimichurri sauce for $9.) The middle-age woman behind the counter was friendly and patient while I decided on the variety. She helped me remember to heat the tasty treats at 350* F for 7-10 minutes. No need to flip over the empanadas. Last year my friend and I met for a midweek lunch; it was our first visit after spotting La Porteña on Google Maps. Initially we were confused because we didn't know it was in the back of the liquor shop. But we were eager to order (en español) at the counter and try a few empanadas while they were warm. We * almost * tried the milanesa sandwich. The older woman had a lovely smile and checked on our table on occasion. It was nice to catch up with my dear friend at our quaint "Argentine blue" and white checked table.

I frequent here and have even had them cater a birthday party. Empanadas are amazing! Must try! BTW is in the back of the liquor store!

We ordered 16 dozen empanadas at $30/dozen: that's 192 pieces of consistent delight! These empanadas are amazing! We picked them up at 11 and served them around 12:30 and they were still fresh and warm. We ordered; beef, spicy beef (folks raved about this one), chicken, beans, and spinach & ricotta. I only tried the spinach, beans, and chicken and they were so tasty, and packed with flavor. Their chimichurri sauce is probably one of the best I've ever had. Honestly, I can drink it in a cup. I know when food is good because our staff comes back for seconds and always asks, where is this from? Thankfully they gave us some menus, so we were able to hand those out.

I will travel for quality empanadas. The sweet beef are my favorites. They could have minimized the raisins a tad, but ultimately very delicious. The crust was perfect, and the dipping sauces were great. A dozen for $30, not bad for good sized empanadas. Note, the shop is tucked in the back of a liquor store, but should certainly be in the limelight.
